Fully Adhered System

Firestone Fully Adhered System (FAS)

Application

The Firestone EPDM Fully Adhered System is a lightweight system with outstanding design flexibility. It is suitable for contoured roofs, roofs with irregular shape and any roof with limited load bearing capacity, provided the substrate is compatible with Firestone contact adhesives and provides sufficient adhesion.

Benefits

  • Application on any slope
  • Suitable for unusual roof configurations
  • Lightweight system
  • High wind uplift performance
  • Aesthetics
  • Perfectly suited for green roofs and roofs with PV installations

Installation

The RubberGard EPDM panels (typically 3.05 m to 6.10 m wide) are fully adhered directly to an acceptable substrate using Firestone Bonding Adhesive. Adjoining sheets are overlapped a minimum of 100 mm and the seams are spliced with Firestone QuickSeam Splice Tape. All flashings around roof perimeters and penetrations are installed in accordance with Firestone specifications (PDF).

Prior to selection of this system, the specifier should determine whether the substrate is compatible with Firestone Bonding Adhesive and provides sufficient adhesion. For insulated roofs the ability of the roof deck to provide sufficient pull-out resistance in case of mechanically fastened insulation should be established.
