UltraPly TPO roofing : key features & benefits

The light colored roofing choice

The main component of the Firestone TPO Roofing System is the UltraPly TPO membrane. This flexible thermoplastic polyolefin (FPO) roofing membrane is made from the incorporation of a ethylene propylene rubber into a polypropylene matrix and produced with a polyester weft inserted reinforcement. This scrim-reinforced membrane combines the flexibility of rubber with the heat-weldability of a thermoplastic in a flexible sheet with excellent layflat characteristics. Its success can therefore be attributed to a unique combination of features and benefits, which have been demonstrated since the early nineties all over the world.

  • Environmentally friendly
Firestone UltraPly TPO membrane is a heat-reflective and energy efficient roofing membrane. Its light colored surface reflects the sunlight before it can be absorbed and converted into heat energy, eventually reducing building cooling costs in warm sunny climates. The membrane's chlorine-free, non-halogenated and plasticizer-free formulation and hot-air welded seams contribute to the system's environmental friendliness. The TPO membrane can also be easily recycled. In addition, Firestone's TPO manufacturing facilities have received ISO 14001 certification, a testimony of the company's commitment to environmental management.
  • Superior durability and longevity
Firestone UltraPly TPO membrane contains no plasticizers and no halogen flame retardants resulting in outstanding resistance to UV radiation and ozone. The membrane also exhibits strong resistance to fungi growth and common rooftop chemicals.
  • Ease of application
Firestone UltraPly TPO is available in widths up to 3.05 m providing fast, economical coverage. It is a lightweight membrane offering a variety of installation options for low slope roofing applications in both refurbishment and new construction projects.
  • Hot-air welded seams
Firestone UltraPly TPO hot-air welded seams result in fast, economical installation, consistent seam quality and high strength. Heat welded seams form a homogeneous bond by fusing the top and bottom sheets together. The wide welding window of the UltraPly TPO membrane enables it to be installed year-round in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Compatible with extensive green roof & photovoltaic installations
Having successfully passed the FLL test for resistance to root penetration, Firestone UltraPly TPO is an ideal membrane for combination with extensive green roofing systems, using lightweight and low maintenance sedum vegetation. The Firestone UltraPly TPO membrane can easily be combined with any type of PV installation due to its reflectivity, high temperature resistance and outstanding wear and tear resistance.
