New Firestone RMA Roofing System

The success story of the Firestone QuickSeam^® products started in the mid nineties with the introduction of the QuickSeam Splice Tape System. Throughout the years Firestone has further extended its range of QuickSeam products. The latest addition is the Firestone QuickSeam RMA^TM Strip, which has resulted in the development of the new Firestone RMA Roofing System.

RMA System Benefits
The Firestone QuickSeam RMA strip is a 10” (25 cm) wide strip of Firestone reinforced EPDM membrane with two 3” (7,5 cm) wide strips of QuickSeam tape factory laminated to each edge of the strip along its entire length. The QuickSeam RMA Strip is used to attach Firestone RubberGard EPDM membrane from beneath resulting in a non-penetrating alternative to conventional mechanically attached Firestone EPDM Roofing Systems offering following benefits:

• No penetration of the EPDM roofing membrane
• As aesthetic as a fully adhered membrane system (or more!)
• Use of large EPDM panels resulting in fast and easy installation

Method of application
The application of the QuickSeam RMA strip involves similar installation steps as the Firestone QuickSeam tape. The RMA strip is unrolled with the release paper up. Attachment of the strip is accomplished using Firestone plates or batten strips. Alternatively, Firestone will allow the use of other fastening plates, enabling the use of automatic stand-up tools, allowing an even faster installation of the system. The Firestone RubberGard EPDM membrane is then positioned over the RMA strip with the release paper in place. The membrane is folded back to expose the RMA strip and primed with Firestone QuickPrime Plus to be spliced to the QuickSeam tape. The release paper of the tape is removed and the primed EPDM membrane rolled onto the QuickSeam Splice tape. Finally, the membrane is rolled with the new Firestone QuickRoller, a stand-up silicone roller, to ensure proper adhesion.
