Toyota Motor Company pays much attention to the sustainability of its buildings. The company was looking for a complete and high performing roofing system to waterproof the 11,000 m² roof of its new manufacturing site in Malaysia. The sustainable solution also had to meet tight deadlines and be easy to install.
Firestone’s 1.8 mm thick grey UltraPly™ TPO membrane was chosen as roofing system, attached over Firestone ISO 95+™ GL polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation boards. Firestone’s InvisiWeld™ induction welding system was used to attach the membrane, providing an aesthetic finish.
“There were several reasons for choosing Firestone’s UltraPly™ TPO roofing system” commented Designer John Ngooi of Nexus Idea Consultancy Sdn Bhd. “One of them was that it offers superior airtight, waterproof features and provides a 20-year system warranty after installation. Besides that, Firestone’s ISO 95+™ GL insulation boards provide a very low U-value, which helps to reduce the energy consumption of the factory.”
