Why can you rely on Firestone's V-Force vapor retarder membrane?

The roof is a large part of the building envelope and therefore has a significant impact on the flow of energy in and out of buildings. Consequently, in order to create an energy-efficient and comfortable environment, it usually takes more than just the installation of thermal insulation.

Whereas insulation reduces heat transfer, a vapor retarder primarily serves to control the migration of moisture through the roofing assembly. It eliminates the risk for moisture build-up from condensation and thus ensures the thermal performance of insulation. In addition, a well-installed vapor retarder can also provide airtightness and thus assist in controlling energy losses.

In cold climates, the vapor retarder is usually located on the warm side of the roofing assembly, directly on the deck with insulation and roofing membrane above it. There are exceptions such as in cold storage buildings.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Good vapor resistance

The V-Force membrane provides a good barrier to vapor with an Sd of 160 m. It is, therefore, suitable for most roofs.

Resistant to weathering

The polyethylene top facer offers temporary UV protection and can be left exposed for up to 30 days. The V-Force membrane can serve as a temporary waterproofing provided all overlaps shed water, are primed with Firestone SA Primer, are properly installed and rolled. It allows the inside of the building to stay dry while the roof is not fully completed.

Resistant to foot traffic

The engineered composition of the V-Force membrane provides high resistance to static loading and dynamic impact. The high tensile strength and elongation make the membrane suitable for applications directly to the steel deck limiting the risk for tears caused by foot traffic.

Light-colored and non-slippery

The polyethylene film is designed as a non-slippery surface improving safety. Its light color helps to keep the roofing membrane clean.

Outstanding adhesion

V-force on primed steel deck (106/250/3) provides a wind uplift resistance of 4600 Pa when tested as per European standards.

One-source supplier

The use of V-Force membrane ensures a compatible design and high-quality performance were all roofing components are supplied and warranted by one manufacturer.
